Main way to focus on beating Shulk is to smother him with your better startup/frame data generally speaking. Shulk’s startup is really bad on his moves and while his aerials are good, nair is frame 13 and starts from behind and fair is frame 14 and starts from above. Even with his shield art, your character will generally have combo counterplay to it (same for smash art as well). Edgeguarding is best done by focusing on how his recovery is mainly good vertically, so force him to recover horizontally for easy pickings (alternatively you can just spike or hit from above when he does airslash). Also, when Shulk does an monado art he’ll have I-frames throughout the pose so keep that in mind as well. Additionally, try to avoid taking him to stages like town, FD, etc (unless you know your character benefits way more from those stages).
